The Fan Museum, Greenwich

The Fan Museum, home to over 4,000 beautiful, antique fans.

A museum dedicated solely to fans is hard to come by – in fact, there’s only one in the whole of the UK and you can find it waving right at you, deep in the heart of Greenwich. Over 4,000 antique fans dating as early as the 11th century, decorate the walls and cabinets of this beautiful townhouse.

Visit the Museum to see how fans fitted into the social and historical context of centuries gone or just wander through the adjoining rooms and enjoy the beauty that each delicately adorned fan has to offer.  Then, make sure you also enjoy a fan-tastic afternoon tea in their Orangery.

The Orangery is an elegant and exclusive setting at the back of the museum, overlooking a secret fan shaped garden, pond, stream and oriental architectural features. It’s a magical little place to spend a few hours and devour a traditional English afternoon tea at an ace price of just seven pounds. That also includes your entrance to the museum and the opportunity to browse their little shop.
